Developing and working within our ethos for sustainability and community, at Horncastle in Bloom we're in a rather envious position to be able to access some very special manure! Absolutely brilliant for developing the layers in no-dig beds, which offer greater ecological support to our environment. The community plot will have the raised no dig beds layered with recycled cardboard collected from the community, then a mix of manure from herbivals such as zebra and alpacas, then finished with a final layer of peat free compost.
Central to our ethos of sustainable growing is the use of products which embodies the focus on environmental issues. As one of the most important elements for growers, our focus on the use of peat free compost for all of our growing needs was of the highest importance. As such, we have partnered with PlantGrow, who are supporting and providing our growing spaces with their amazing compost and mulches, which will help in the overall development of ethically sourced materials.
PlantGrow is produced in Attleborough, Norfolk by farming family Steve and Sarah Suggitt.
It is a totally natural, sustainable and chemical free fertiliser that nurtures soils and is an excellent option for gardeners. The plant tissue residue is produced from the process of anaerobic digestion, which digests locally grown crops, fruit and vegetables whilst creating electricity during the processing. The digester residue, rich in natural fertilising elements and outstanding when applied on the fields, means chemical fertiliser is no longer needed on their farm.
PlantGrow boasts a long list of benefits and is a product that fits better in today's world.
Whether you are growing your own produce, growing flowers or growing in pots, PlantGrow can be used in all your growing areas!
