The local education groups and schools have been taking part in this year's Horncastle in Bloom in a variety of ways.

St Lawrence School in Horncastle started us off, alongside The Wong Day Centre, by adding to our 100 community spring bulb growers! They were then also joined by Horncastle Primary School, Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School as well as the Third Horncastle Brownies by designing their own King's Coronation Spring Bulbs Beds.

We're very grateful to the Horncastle Women's Institute for making the very tough decisions for our competition entrants. The winners will be announced at the end of March. All of our talented designers will recieve their own ceritifcate of participation. The winners for each establishment will not only recieve a comemmorative trophy, but will also have their designs made into one of five beds to be displayed in the town's Hammerton Gardens.

School Gardeners.

Horncastle Primary School

Horncastle Primary School has children aged from nursery, reception, juniors right up to year 6. The school has started to develop their own gardening space and is encouraging the children to get involved.

On Friday 24th March, the school will be supporting the work of Greenfingers Charity with their garden Re-leaf Day. The children will be wearing something green in order to help raise funds for magical gardens and green spaces for children's hospices across the UK.

In addition to this, the children will also be taking part in the RHS Big Seed Sow. Supported by Horncastle in Bloom, the children will start their sowing journey using Coir penny discs to sow their tomatoes, sunflower and pumpkin seeds. They will be competing against each other to see who can grow the biggest or tallest plant! We're really looking forward to seeing the photos and the growing love of growing from the children.
