Meet the Growers!
Community Spring Bulb Growers!
Back in October 2022, we called on the community to be a part of our 100 spring bulb growers. The focus of this was to get the community growing, for the community. These bulbs are destined to be used for the King's Coronation celebration beds, which will be designed by the children from the local schools and community groups, and planted out in April 2023 leading up to the King's Coronation itself. Meet the growers!
The call went out and we're so exctied that the community responded! Each group or individual volunteer have been given a mixture of red tuplips, blue hyacinths and pale yellow daffadils, recycled pots and peat free compost. They will then grow and foster these bulbs in preparation for the coronation beds. All we need now is for nature to help take care of them and for them to bloom at the right time!
100 Spring Growers!
Community is at the heart of the Horncastle in Bloom ethos. We want the whole community to get involved in the growing project, in whichever way they can and with whatever time that they can give.
Our first big community growing event was the 100 Spring Growers! Back in October 2022, we were ready to kick start Horncastle in Bloom for the 2023 spring, we needed 100 growers to grow our spring bulbs. Everything that they needed was provided for them to get involved. All that they needed to do was grow as many bulbs in pots as you can over winter. We're nearly ready to gather them all back together in the spring- ready to be used in our exciting spring project. This will then involve more of our amazing community in our next big project.
